Bedding, bath towels, beach towels, books, board games, a Bluetooth stereo, an Xbox Kinect plus games, another forty-inch television and DVD player in the lounge, a selection of films for all ages and, probably most importantly to avoid family squabbles, a second Xbox controller are all included for your comfort and enjoyment. Laundry can be done in the front-loader washing machine and dried on the line in the garden.

The kitchen is a far cry from the lonely microwave and kettle that passes for cooking equipment in lesser holiday home. Here you can knock yourself out with an electric oven and gas stove top, a fridge-freezer, tea and coffee-making equipment, including the obligatory kettle, microwave of course and a dishwasher. However, that’s not all. There is a food processor, a sandwich toaster, more than one electric beater and a plastic dinner set for children, with cups, bowls and plates. The separate dining room has seating for up to eight.

The back garden is fenced and gated, with a deck, a children’s area that has a sand pit, a cubby house (you might know this as a Wendy house if you are from the UK) and a pretty gnome table with kids’ seats. Out in the garden at the front you have the use of a gas-fired barbecue, a table and seating for up to six. Here you also have a wonderful view of the bay.

As the property’s name suggests, The Beach Escape At Primrose Sands is perfect for the shallow beach which is a mere two hundred metres away. As well as safe swimming, there are opportunities for charter cruises, snorkelling, canoeing and much more. If you are here at the right time, you can not only witness the breathtaking beauty of the Aurora Australis, the Southern Lights, but also the strange blue glow of bioluminescent algae – it has been reported as little as fifteen minutes’ walk from the holiday home.

A drive of a mere three quarters of an hour is all it takes to reach the UNESCO-listed Port Arthur Historic Site, so that would make a good day trip if you fancy a break from bucket-and-spade-related activities.
