6 Day Tasmanian Devil Encounter

6 days - Wilderness Tour Package
Day 1 - Arrival Launceston - Tamar Wetlands

This morning is at leisure. Meet your local guide at noon in the lobby of your accommodation or airport and start your Tasmania adventure with a scenic drive to Hawley Beach or The Tamar Wetlands. We will try to spot as much wildlife as possible and your guide will introduce you to the local fauna and flora.

Day 2 - Cradle Mountain National Park

After breakfast, continue to the internationally acclaimed, UNESCO World Heritage Cradle Mountain Wilderness. Begin to unwind to the harmonic sounds found only in this true wilderness. Along the way you may see birdlife species such as Forest Ravens, Currawongs and Wedge-tailed Eagles. In the afternoon, visit Devils@Cradle Wildlife Sanctuary to gain insights about the world’s largest carnivorous marsupial and witness a feeding of this unique species.

Day 3 - Cradle Mountain - Dove Lake

This morning’s activity is a bush walk in the National Park on the Dove Lake Circuit (2.5 hrs), where you will immerse yourself in the beauty of Cradle Mountain. Learn about native flora and fauna along the way with highlights including the ballroom forest and lakeside beaches. Enjoy an interpreted bush walk through the National Park among Tasmanian rainforest and the native Pandani, the tallest heath plant in the world.

Day 4 - Mole Creek - Tasmania's Central Highlands

Depart from Cradle Valley and travel to Mole Creek Karst National Park, for a tour of Marakoopa Cave. Explore this miraculous underground world with its glow worms, large caverns, rim pools and underground streams before heading to Tasmania’s Central Highlands, also known as “The Heart of Tasmania”. Immerse yourself into this barren but beautiful and unique landscape. Here in this alpine environment the air is noticeably clear and the silence inspiring. At dusk you will have the chance to join a wildlife evening tour to observe Wombats, Quolls, Tasmanian Devils, Wallabies and Possums as they turn the area into a hub of activity.

Day 5 - Tasmania's Central Highlands

Start your day relaxing by the fire or venture out for a walk in the Highlands. The lakes in the area are perfect for wildlife spotting. Perhaps take an electric bike tour to spot platypus, wombats and other Tasmanian animals. In the evening once again enjoy the peaceful reverie of the fire. As darkness descends watch for activity outside as the nocturnal wildlife come out to a feed.

Day 6 - Highlands - Bonorong - Hobart Departure

This morning, leave the Central Highlands and travel south through the Tasmanian Midlands. Enjoy a lunch in a local restaurant before we meet the Tasmanian Devil again. Visit Bonorong Animal Sanctuary and handfeed the gentle kangaroos. Meet a Tasmanian Devil in its natural habitat and see Tasmania’s first animal hospital in action. Conclude the day with a visit of the historic village of Richmond with its well-preserved architecture before your guide will bid you farewell at Hobart Airport for a late afternoon departure.
