The Waterfront Wynyard

The beds at The Waterfront Wynyard have recently been replaced, so no sagging mattresses to ruin your sleep. A shower, a flat-screen television, tea and coffee-making gizmos, a mini-bar and free internet access are standard with all rooms, which face north so that you enjoy the view of the river during your stay.
In the Standard Rooms there is a queen-size bed, electric blankets and usually a large desk, with the accommodation being a mixture of old and new in terms of style. A Deluxe Room has a king-size bed, an extra-large desk, electric blankets, a wing-back chair for that extra comfort, a pod machine for making coffee and a selection of Twinings tea. These rooms have a modern appearance, and then there are the Classic rooms, with a queen-size and single bed, electric blankets and a similar style to the Standard, with some including a desk.
Coastal Pods are a new use for shipping containers, adapted to include two king-size beds, a laundry, a kitchen and en-suite bathroom in the master bedroom. They receive plenty of natural light, especially in the intimate ‘reading nook’ which has full-size picture windows. From the lounge you can directly access a huge deck area from where you can watch the activity on the river as the sailing and fishing boats go by.
The Waterfront Wynyard is a pet-friendly motel, and is also wheelchair-accessible. From the end of 2019 it has also included a new boardwalk which makes access to the river front a lot easier. Guests may relax in front of the fireplace in the Guest Lounge where breakfast and light snacks are served, as well as good Tasmanian wine and Lavazza espresso coffee. In addition to a television, the lounge is equipped with barbecue equipment for the guests’ use and can be booked for private functions.
Business travellers will find The Waterfront Wynyard’s location so close to Burnie Airport a definite plus, while if you are looking for a base for exploring this part of Tasmania then you are also well located. As well as the opportunity to borrow one of the motel’s canoes or bicycles, there are second-hand shops, foreshore markets and tours of the lighthouse in the town itself, while not far off are the town of Stanley (about forty-five minutes by car) and Cradle Mountain (two hours). If you are here at the right time of year, you can also see the resident penguins.
Located in the heart of Wynyard, this golf motel is within a 15-minute walk of East Wynard Beach, Bloomin Tulips Festival, and Wonders of Wynyard Exhibition Center. York Street Reserve and Wynyard Golf Course are also within 3 mi (5 km).

A fantastic place to stay. I have stayed here at least 4 times now. Every time I come back something else has been upgraded. Very friendly and helpful owners and a scenic peaceful location. We enjoyed walking along the riverfront to the nearby eating places. Even a selection of different pillow types to choose from. I will be back!
Terrific quiet spot. The hosts here are incredibly friendly and welcoming, nice quiet spot for the night and breakfast was delicious. Sunrise viewed from the room was fantastic. Close proximity to pub and local shopping also.
