Mason’s Cottages
A holiday on the Tasman Peninsula is that bit more special when you have a self-contained holiday home to yourselves, and these cottages are the bees’ knees: plenty of space, lots of equipment and a comfortable place to relax.
A studio apartment versus a two-bedroom cottage is the choice. In both you’ll find a queen-size and a single bed, with an extra single in the cottage. The en-suite bathroom has a shower, towels, toiletries and a hair dryer, and the kitchen has everything you will need for a good self-catering stay, including a range top, a microwave oven, cookware, cutlery and drinking vessels such as glasses and cups. Naturally there is tea and coffee-making equipment, and if you are in the mood for something stronger there’s the mini-bar.
Reverse-cycle air conditioning will keep you comfortable, as will the electric blankets and high-quality bedding. All guests can make use of the laundry facilities on site, and you have both an iron and an ironing board back in your room. Looking for some entertainment without leaving the premises? There’s a flat-screen television and a DVD player, as well as fast internet access.
Outside on the premises of Mason’s Cottages there is a guest barbecue area, a yard and a garden. The non-smoking, pet-free venue also has a front desk that stays open for ten hours, a place where the friendly staff can help with any suggestions for things to do, as well as book tickets and tours. Luggage storage is available, and so is a daily housekeeping service.
Mason’s Cottages are not far from the historic convict site of Port Arthur, definitely worth a visit to find out what Tasmania was like in the days of the early European settlers. Nature has left its calling card on the area in a unique rock formation called the Tessellated Pavement, and not far off is the aptly named Remarkable Cave. There are also opportunities for golf, diving, swimming, surfing and coming up close to a Tasmanian devil in the unusual setting of an ‘unzoo’.
Situated in Taranna, this vacation home is 0.1 mi (0.2 km) from Dart Island State Reserve and 2.1 mi (3.3 km) from Eaglehawk Bay State Reserve. Pirates Bay Nature Recreation Area and Eaglehawk Neck are also within 6 mi (10 km).
Along with a snack bar/deli, this vacation home has laundry facilities and tour/ticket assistance. Free WiFi in public areas and free self parking are also provided. Additionally, a garden, barbecue grills, and a picnic area are onsite.
All 5 homes have flat-screen TVs with DVD players and feature kitchens with refrigerators, stovetops, and microwaves. Other amenities available to guests include free WiFi, pillowtop beds, and dining areas. Change of towels is available on request.
My husband Rex and I stayed in the cottage on mid of Oct. We write this review to express our thanks for your help on that cold night getting us back into our room. You should remember us. Actually, on that night, we were late back to our cottage as we spent nearly two hours taking photos on the beach opposite to the cottage. Lucky for us, we took the photo of the clear milky way and aurora, and found the wallabies around there. Mason’s Cottage is in a good location to explore the Port Arthur and you are so friendly to us. In the last days we stayed in Tassie, we haven’t saw so amazing milky way in our other booked hotel or airbnb. It is a treasured memory to us. Thank you and we will definitely recommend Mason’s Cottage to our friends.
