Bicheno’s Ocean View Retreat
Family-friendly and with amazing views, this is a good choice for a group who are self catering and are looking for a base to explore Bicheno as well as a comfortable place to unwind at the end of the day.
The retreat has six apartments to choose from, all with air conditioning, free wireless internet and not for smokers or pets, so there won’t be any problems if one of your group has an allergy. Bedrooms and guest rooms have double and single beds with all linen and other bedding provided. There is a shower and a separate bath in the bathroom, and the kitchen has a cooker (with oven and hobs), a fridge, a microwave oven and a small table, as well as equipment for making tea and coffee. A large, spacious living area has comfortable furniture and a flat-screen television, as well as a great deal of natural light through the huge windows and sliding doors that lead on to the furnished patio.
A garden area has a picnic table, and the beach is a few minutes away. The view is absolutely spectacular, whether you are viewing it from inside Bicheno’s Ocean View Retreat or outside. Other details to make your stay that bit more comfortable are that you have access to laundry facilities, luggage storage, barbecue equipment, a library, and the owners provide not only tour and ticket assistance but also supervised children’s activities. Children stay free if they are using existing bedding, and, if you need a crib, one can be provided at no extra cost. Parking at the property is free too.
Bicheno is fairly well known for its penguin tours, and Bicheno’s Ocean View Retreat is in a good location for this activity, as they are just a four-minute drive away. Bicheno Blowhole is a similar distance if you’d like to see nature getting ferocious, and there are also Whalers Lookout and East Coast Natureworld. Just over ten minutes away on foot is Douglas-Apsley National Park, and, if it’s peace and quiet you are after, the tranquillity of your accommodation is something a number of guests have remarked on.
This family-friendly Bicheno guesthouse is steps from Redbill Beach and Waubs Beach. Apsley Conservation Area and Diamond Island Nature Reserve are also within 15 minutes.
