Tranquillity is the key word here, with just the beach and the trees around you in a superbly equipped house set away from any built-up area, and yet near enough for the historic Port Arthur Site not to be inconveniently remote.

The three houses available sleep four, six and eight, with queen and single beds, and extra beds available when you book. There is free wireless internet, full cooking facilities which include a stove, a fridge and a microwave oven, both a toaster and a sandwich toaster, a kettle, various items of glassware, cutlery and crockery, and the whole place has reverse-cycle air conditioning.

There are two bathrooms, one with an actual bath, electric blankets if you are coming in winter time, and the proprietors of Bay Retreat Port Arthur have made sure there’s an iron, an ironing board and a hairdryer for your convenience. There is also a washing machine and dryer, an LCD television, a DVD player, a CD sound system and every bedroom has a clock radio and a bedside light. You’ll also find a floor-standing reading light, and they welcome all the guests with a picnic basket.

While you are staying at Bay Retreat Port Arthur, you’ll have the use of a paved, outdoor seating area, a courtyard with barbecue equipment and a phone from which you can make local calls. The pet-free, no-smoking house is a good base not only for the famous Port Arthur Historic Site but also Tasman Island Cruises, Osborne Heli Tours, where you can get a bird’s-eye view of the area from fifteen minutes to an hour, and even an eleven-hour combined guided tour and helicopter flight, Isle of the Dead and Tasman Golf Course. If you have a sweet tooth, there’s even Federation Chocolate Factory nearby!

Situated in Port Arthur, this beach cottage is 0.7 mi (1.2 km) from Tasman Golf Course and 1.8 mi (2.9 km) from Port Arthur Historic Site. Safety Cove State Reserve and Isle of the Dead are also within 2 mi (3 km).

This smoke-free cottage features a garden, barbecue grills, and free self parking.

Accommodations provide kitchens with refrigerators, ovens, stovetops, and microwaves. Washers/dryers and free WiFi are standard, as are flat-screen TVs with DVD players.

Fantastic location, very comfortable and convenient for Port Arthur. Would definitely come again.
