Derwent Valley and Mount Field National Park
Embark on a journey to the Derwent Valley and Mount Field National Park, where Tasmania’s natural heritage comes to life. An hour’s drive from Hobart takes you into the heart of ancient rainforests, home to some of Tasmania’s most stunning waterfalls, including the famed Lady Barron Falls. The Lady Barron Falls Circuit, an easy two-hour, 6km trail, winds through old-growth forests and past crisp, cascading falls, offering chances to spot native wildlife. Post-hike, the tour visits esteemed local producers like Derwent Distillery and Shene Distillery, where the art of Tasmanian whiskey and wine making is revealed.
Bruny Island
Discover the unique allure of Bruny Island, a microcosm of the Tasmanian wilderness. After a short ferry ride, the tour heads to Adventure Bay to explore the coastal clifftops of Fluted Cape. The walk offers breathtaking views and a chance to delve into the island’s geological and historical significance. Lunch at a local winery introduces you to the island’s gourmet produce, followed by a tasting of Bruny’s famous oysters and other local delicacies. Tasman Peninsula
The Tasman Peninsula, just an hour and a half from Hobart, is a showcase of Tasmania’s rugged coastal beauty and rich history. The area is a bushwalker’s paradise, offering a selection of trails that highlight the peninsula’s diverse natural and historical landscapes. Selected trails balance scenic beauty with moderate challenges, rewarding adventurers with views of remote beaches, dramatic coastal headlands, and tales of resilience from Tasmania’s past. This destination is perfect for those looking to immerse themselves in Tasmania’s natural wonders and storied history.
Mount Wellington/kunanyi
Explore the majestic Mount Wellington/kunanyi, an iconic backdrop to the city of Hobart. The mountain’s network of tracks and trails offers something for every level of adventurer, from steep climbs and rock screes to serene fern glades. The summit provides spectacular panoramic views of Hobart, the Derwent River, and beyond. Along the way, discover hidden caves and stories from Hobart’s past, making the journey as enriching as the destination itself. After descending, the tour may include visits to inner-city distilleries, such as Lark and Captain Blighs, for a taste of Tasmania’s renowned spirits.

Our Wilderness and Whisky Walks tour allows participants to enjoy two distinctively Tasmanian adventures; exploring the landscape on some of Tasmania’s best short walks and hiking trails before tastings and access at Tasmania’s finest distilleries and or wineries.

We keep this tour simple, exploring the diverse regions of southern Tasmania, each offering wild natural landscapes and passionate producers behind the distilleries and wineries.
On our 2 day option, your choice is of two of the following destinations:
- Derwent Valley and Mount Field National Park , Around an hour from Hobart, the Lady Barron Falls Circuit takes in several of Tasmania’s most beautiful waterfalls. Sitting amongst the beautiful rainforests of the Mount Field National Park, we walk past the old growth and fresh, crisp waterfalls on this two-hour, 6km easy trail, where we may even spot some native Tasmanian wildlife. After lunch we will visit producers such as Derwent Distillery, Killara Distillery, Shene Distillery or Derwent Estate Vineyard.
- Bruny Island, After the short morning ferry crossing, we head to Adventure Bay for a walk around the coastal clifftops of Fluted Cape, taking time to explain the geology and share stories from the past of this island off an island. Our lunch is taken in a local winery. On the way back to the ferry, we will pause for a platter of oysters and other delicious local treats.
- Tasman Peninsula, Just an hour and a half out of Hobart presents one of Tasmania’s diverse natural coastal communities, historical back drops and bushwalking trail mecca’s. With a wide variety of trails we have selected one that provides great balance, diversity and moderate levels of fitness needed. Allowing most adventurers to take on. The reward is great, sweeping remote beaches, coastal headlands and resilient stories from our past and present.
- Mount Wellington/kunanyi, We will explore mountain tracks and trails that are right in Hobart’s backyard, including some challenging steep sections, rock screes, fern glades and spectacular views from the top of our kunanyi. Along the way we will share great stories of hidden caves and Hobart’s past and present history. After lunch, it is back to Hobart to explore some inner-city distilleries such as Lark and Captain Blighs.
As we start with a morning bushwalk amongst some of Tasmania’s remote and spectacular landscapes, there will be variations in lunch offerings, such as packed picnics and sit down offerings, this will depend on chosen walks.
Because of our small private nature, we can customise this itinerary to the needs of our guests, catering for their interests and going in search of a relaxing reward after the mornings walk.
