All of the rooms at Windarra On High are non-smoking and include an en-suite bathroom, toiletries, television, heating, wireless internet and facilities for making tea and coffee. Pushing the boat out with a Superior Queen room, you have fan cooling, a kitchenette with a microwave and daily room service. There are other variations, but every room has a queen bed so the occupancy is two adults per room (it is in fact an adults-only hotel). Blackout blinds are fitted in many cases, so if you prefer to shut out most of the sunlight in order to relax, play with a laser pointer or develop the top-secret microfilm (I’m not absolutely sure about that last one), you’re sorted. There are Venetian blinds elsewhere.
The dining room at Windarra On High has a number of tables for three or four, complete with crisp white table cloths, and the sun comes in through the tall, glass-paned doors from the garden while the room is decorated by a number of pieces of artwork. Continental breakfast is included in the price of your stay, and for guests who are driving here, you may park on the premises at no extra cost.
This hotel is in High Street, with the cafes, restaurants and shops of Launceston within easy reach. A short drive or an enjoyably scenic walk takes you to the must-see Cataract Gorge, and the city boasts fine parks, a Central Business District, the National Automobile Museum, which is definitely something you don’t have to be a petrol-head to appreciate, a farmers’ market and the embarkation point for a Tamar River Cruise, also something not to be missed.
Located in East Launceston, this bed & breakfast is within a 10-minute walk of Launceston Aquatic Centre, Design Centre of Tasmania, and City Park. City Park Radio Museum and Princess Theatre are also within 10 minutes. East Tamar Junction Station is 25 minutes by foot.
