Your en-suite room at Ashton Gate Guest House is beautifully furnished, just as the rest of this delightful property is. There is a lot of varnished wood around the place, and the Victorian house has a relaxed atmosphere to it, with friendly hosts looking after you. Your apartment is fully self-contained, and there is a comfortable guest lounge to relax in, complete with a real fireplace.
When it comes to the superb cooked breakfast in the morning, it is served in the breakfast room with its views of the charming oak trees in the square outside, and there is a deck area in the English-style garden which has outdoor tables and chairs and so presents a good place to relax in the evening.
There is wireless internet, free parking and also a bar attached to the lounge area. Your room has air conditioning and also a fridge. It is possible to use the guest house’s laundry facilities while you are staying here, and if you are someone put off by the scent of stale tobacco, you will be pleased to learn that it is a non-smoking property.
Just a few streets away is Launceston Visitor Information Centre, but for an immediate itinerary you can’t go wrong with a visit to Cataract Gorge or the three museums to the north: the National Automobile Museum of Australia, and on the other side of the North Esk River the National Tramway Museum and the Queen Victoria Planetary Museum. Launceston is full of restaurants serving both Tasmanian cuisine and international food, and if wine and beer are your thing, check out the many craft beers and Tasmanian wines that pop up on the menus. Quadrant Mall and Brisbane Street Mall are ideal if shopping is your dream pastime, and Princess Theatre is practically round the corner. Stroll through Kings Park and, across the road, the larger Zig Zag Reserve, which is also home to Penny Royal Adventures.
Located in East Launceston, this hotel is within a 10-minute walk of Launceston Aquatic Centre, City Park, and Design Centre of Tasmania. Quadrant Mall and Princess Theatre are also within 10 minutes. East Tamar Junction Station is 26 minutes by foot.

We had a lovely stay at the B and B. Walking distance to town, a park across the street and great breakfast every morning. Jennifer was the perfect hostess, even allowing us to do laundry. I wouldn't hesitate to stay again.
Thoroughly enjoyed our two night stay at this superb B&B. We were absolutely stunned when we first set foot in the front door, the ambience and old world charm of this B&B is amazing. The rooms are immaculately furnished and decorated and very comfortable. Breakfast exceeded all expectations.
This B&B was beautiful with all the old artifacts and lovely garden. Although built in the 1800's it had all the comforts we needed. The owners, Jennifer and George, were friendly and accommodating. The cooked breakfast was not only picture perfect, but delicious with homemade bread, jam and butter. We wished we could have stayed longer. We highly recommend this lovely place.
