Considering the low-budget nature of your stay, you get good value for your money here, looked after by highly competent staff with a raft of facilities to make your stay enjoyable, and all in a city-centre location.
Beds in a mixed dorm are in the form of bunks, with storage lockers, while the female-only dorm has a mixture of bunks and king single leather beds. You can also book a single or a twin room, with king single beds, or you can have a luxury queen-size leather bed with a spring mattress in the Queen Room. Heating is provided in every room and linen is provided, while you can hire a towel at a reasonable rate.
All options include storage lockers, and everyone has the use of a large, shared, fully equipped kitchen and access to a dining area and a communal lounge area with work spaces, a television and a book-exchange programme. There is also a game room with a pool table, and guests can make use of the free wireless internet, luggage storage, laundry equipment, and the multilingual staff are available if you are interested in tour or ticket booking.
The Backpackers Imperial Hotel is staffed twenty-four hours a day, with a late-night entrance so there is no deadline you need to adhere to when coming back after an evening out. There is a twelve-storey car park next door, and free parking in the street between 6pm and 8:30am.
The Backpackers Imperial Hotel is right in the heart of Hobart and just 50 metres from the nearest public transport spot. This means that as well as the famous Salamanca Market and the Central Business District (CBD), all the best shops, cafes, bars and restaurants are close by. You are also not far from supermarkets, banks and the Tourist Information Centre, and either a short drive or a ferry trip from MONA – the Museum of Old and New Art. The waterfront around Brooke Street Pier is particularly recommended, whether you fancy good old fish and chips, some souvenir shopping or just watching the fishing boats and yachts toing and froing.
Located in Hobart Central Business District, this hostel is within a 10-minute walk of The Cat & Fiddle Arcade, Salamanca Market, and Salamanca Place. St. David’s Cathedral and Hobart Town Hall are also within 5 minutes.
