Mt Rumney Escapes
Family-friendly and combining the convenience of being just 15 minutes from the airport and the beauty of the bush surroundings, this farm stay is a comfortable base for a self-catering holiday in the Hobart district and for those who would like to get away from it all.
The two-bedroom cabin at Mount Rumney Escapes contains a master bedroom with a queen bed and four bunk beds in the second one. A crib is available at no extra cost should you need one. As well as bedding, towels, plenty of wardrobe space, free toiletries and a hair dryer, you have a bathroom with a shower, which also doubles up as the laundry room, including a washing machine, an iron and an ironing board.
There is a combined kitchen and lounge area. Equipment comes in the form of a cooker (with an oven and stove top), a full-size refrigerator, a microwave, an electric kettle, a coffee maker and a supply of cookware, dishes and utensils. A flat-screen television with DVD player sits in one corner of the lounge area, and the property also has free wireless internet. The property is for non-smokers, is heated and is pet-friendly as well, so there is no need to say goodbye to man’s best friend when you come here.
As well as having plenty of space inside, you have great views of the countryside outside as well as a barbecue set at your disposal if you fancy eating al-fresco. Many walking routes are on offer near to Mount Rumney Escapes, or you could just wander around and meet the various animals on the adjacent farm. The area is also popular with cyclists.
Only about fifteen minutes away by car is Hobart, so you are well placed for Blundstone Arena and Bellerive Oval, as well as the famous waterfront area. Hobart Aquatic Centre is an absolute must if you have children with you! Also under ten minutes’ drive is Seven Mile Beach, while Mount Wellington takes around three quarters of an hour.

I loved everything about this place, it was warm, spotless clean and Clarissa was just amazing.
It was simple and good value for money, nice and clean. The children loved seeing the animals and feeding the horses. It was lovely to watch the wallabies on the property at dusk. The kitchen and bathroom were well stocked and we had everything we needed.
Taking 3 children on holidays it’s easy, but staying on a farm stay was great. The kids got to feed the chickens and horses and play with the dogs. The holiday house was warm and welcoming.
