Foreshore Motel Tavern provides its guests with shampoo and conditioner, an iron and ironing board, a hair dryer, tea and coffee-making equipment, a mini-bar, a fridge, a couch, a desk, a wardrobe, free wireless internet, heating and the option to book some of the rooms so that they connect (for example, a room for two coupled with one for three) and a number that have wheelchair access.

For a good dining experience, the motel’s Family Bistro is a good choice. Lunch is served daily from noon till two and dinner, for which it is advisable to book in advance, from five to eight (eight thirty on some days). There is an extensive wine list, daily specials and an undercover play area for children, which you can see from the beer garden outside so you can keep an eye on the kids while you dine al-fresco. Naturally there is a great deal of indoor seating also, plus a carpet that looks ever so similar to the opening credits of Casino Royale (or is that just me?).

Outside the sports bar is a courtyard where you can enjoy one of the many wines, beers and spirits on offer while watching a Tasmanian sunset, and inside guests may watch the wide-screen televisions, play pool, listen to the jukebox, and play both Tote and Tas Keno. On top of all this, Foreshore Motel Tavern has a bottle shop (also known as an off-licence).

Speaking of tipples, Coal Creek Vineyard and Frogmore Creek Vineyard are close by, and for that perfect wine-and-cheese event, there is also The Wicked Cheese Company that is well worth a visit. Heritage sites nearby include the famous Port Arthur Historic Site and the historic town of Richmond, and among the many water-based adventures, Roaring 40s Kayaking is right on your doorstep.
