White Dove Cottage Bed and Breakfast

The guest cottage where you stay at White Dove Cottage Bed and Breakfast has a superb double bed in a large, well furnished bedroom, an en-suite bathroom with a shower and a hair dryer, and you have a refrigerator, coffee and tea-making equipment, free wireless internet, a television with a DVD player and some lovely home-made biscuits. You also have practical extras like an iron, an ironing board and a desk.
The main house is a separate building, where you can have continental or cooked breakfast in what used to be the main kitchen. This includes speciality teas or plunger coffee, fresh yoghurt and a proper full English if you want. The dining room is available for other meals, which can be arranged for you if you let the owners know in advance so that they can get hold of the ingredients. You may also make use of the barbecue equipment in the beautiful garden, with its pond, rose bushes and patio. White Dove Cottage Bed and Breakfast also has a self-service laundry you are free to use while you are here, and parking is free.
As well as two of Tasmania’s finest antique shops, trout fishing and a number of pleasant walking trails, Longford is only a short drive from the historic estates of Woolmers, Brickendon, Entally and Clarendon. The award-winning JJ’s Bakery and Cafe is well worth visiting for its bread and pies, and also gourmet wood-fired pizza, and there are at least eleven of Australia’s top restaurants in nearby Launceston. If you are considering using Longford as a base for a day trip or two, Mole Creek Caves, Low Head lighthouse station and of course Cataract Gorge are worth putting on the itinerary.

Over many years of holidays in Tasmania we have had the privilege to stay at accommodation hosted by the lovely Paula. We have never been disappointed. The attention to detail, luxury appointments and the effervescent personality of Paula herself has always made us wish we could stay longer. The setting of her B&B in the historic and picture postcard village of Longford is all anyone would want for a perfect unwind from the business of life. Can’t wait to return.
