Touchwood Cottages
These cottages are tastefully decorated in the colonial style, and fully self-contained – ideal for self-catering guests who enjoy sitting back and taking it easy between visits to Stanley and the region.
Between two and four can stay here, with sleeping arrangements in the form of a queen-size bed or, in some cases, singles. Linen and towels are provided, and you have a shower, in some instances a bath as well, laundry facilities, a lounge area, heating, a television and equipment for making tea and coffee.
All of the accommodation at Touchwood Cottages includes a well-stocked fruit bowl, breakfast provisions and even chocolate and port. One property has been adapted to be disabled-accessible. There are good cooking facilities, such as a stove top and oven, microwave, toaster and fridge. There is an iron and ironing board, an alarm clock, and weekly room service is provided to the properties, which are all non-smoking.
Some options at Touchwood Cottages include a dining setting, an electric blanket, the availability of a high chair or cots, ceiling fans, air conditioning, rollaway beds, a bar fridge and some pretty spectacular views of the ocean.
There is a cafe on site which also has a seasonal food menu, so you can try octopus or scallops when in season, and Genovese-quality coffee all-year-round. Check out the gourmet house-baked cakes they have on offer while you are here.
Anyone who has visited Stanley will know that its most important attraction is the extinct volcanic mound called The Nut, with amazing views from the top. You can reach the summit on foot or by chairlift, and it is only about five minutes from Touchwood Cottages. Shops, cafes and restaurants abound in Stanley, and the place has good beaches with opportunities for surfing. Stanley Golf Club and Stanley Seaquarium are about a quarter of an hour’s walk from your holiday home, and the airport BWT Burnie is just under an hour away by car.
Situated near the beach, this cottage is within a 10-minute walk of The Nut Chairlift Stanley and Van Diemen’s Land Company Store. The Nut State Reserve and Stanley Golf Club are also within 15 minutes.
This smoke-free cottage features a restaurant, a coffee shop/cafe, and laundry facilities. Free WiFi in public areas and free self parking are also provided. Other amenities include a garden and a picnic area.
All 3 individually decorated accommodations feature free WiFi and room service. Kitchens with microwaves are standard, and guests will also find coffee makers and hair dryers. Housekeeping is not available.
Our hosts, Chris and Greta made us very welcome. Cottage is very comfortable with quality bed and lounge chairs. Quite roomy for a studio with big bathroom and kitchen facilities. On-site restaurant with beautiful water views was a bonus.
We stayed for two nights in ‘The Pines’. Just beautiful. Views, charm, comfort. Chris and Gretta were terrific hosts – nothing was too much trouble. Cottage, cafe and gallery all lovely. If you appreciate attention to detail, You can’t go past Touchwood Cottages.
The host of Touchwood are a delight. Nothing is too much trouble, Greta kept surprising us with her home made Scones (to die for) I kid you not the are the best I’ve ever had and my waistline will show I’ve had a few. The Cottage is perfect both size and comfort and the onsite Cafe and gift shop are lovely.
