The Lookout

Towels and bedding are ready for you at this non-smoking but thoroughly pet-friendly holiday home, and The Lookout has a washing machine and clothes dryer, so no trekking to the launderette, and the owners have helpfully left an iron and ironing board for your use. The bathroom sports a shower, while the kitchen has all the equipment you can expect, such as an oven and hobs, a microwave, a full-size refrigerator, plenty of cooking utensils, plates and pots, an electric kettle and of course the tools of the trade when it comes to making tea and coffee.

In the open-plan living area you have the comfort of reverse-cycle air conditioning and heating, and if you are in the mood for a more romantic, cosy way of staying warm in the winter months of May to the end of September, the property also has a wood-fired stove you can all gather around. There is free wireless internet, an absolutely huge television, a table-football set, a pair of sofas practically overflowing with large, soft cushions, a great deal of natural light and the option to block it out altogether if you so wish as the place has blackout blinds as well. The bathroom is wheelchair accessible, and you won’t have any problems storing your luggage during your stay.

Outside, not only is there free parking for your car but there is also mooring for a boat. In fact, you can bring a vessel to The Lookout without even having to reverse it in. A couple of minutes’ walk away is a boat ramp too. A balcony on the first floor affords spectacular views of the bay and the mountains in the distance, while down the outdoor staircase there is a paved picnic area, complete with a sheltered barbecue, a fenced garden and some outdoor seating, plus a table so you can eat in the open air.

If it’s the beach you are after, you are spoilt for choice. Muirs and Richardsons Beaches, and Coles Bay, are all a short walk from The Lookout. For exploring inland, Freycinet National Park Visitor Centre is a few minutes away by car (or you could take a leisurely stroll there). As you can imagine for an area so popular with visitors, there is a wide range of restaurants and cafes to visit, as well shops selling all the essentials needed for a self-catering stay. In addition to walking and cycling routes, boat trips of Great Oyster Bay are available, as are aeroplane trips.
