Sailtas – Sailing Charters to Bruny Island – Adults Only
From three hours to three weeks, two guests to twelve, sit back in the capable hands of an experienced skipper while you enjoy magnificent sights, gourmet food and the three teak-lined staterooms of a forty-two foot yacht.
Inside the Catalina yacht it’s bright and airy, with sleeping space for up to three couples and seating for a maximum of twelve adults. There are sunset trips, day-long and overnight trips, and you can tailor your own itinerary if you prefer.
Local Tasmanian produce is prepared by a gourmet chef in the sloop’s galley, and there are covers for shade, a swim platform and ladder, a deck shower and barbecue equipment. A suite of sails means your vessel is ready for any conditions, and if you are becalmed there is a diesel engine to ensure you can get back to dry land. The qualified crew are happy to let you try your hand at the controls, under their expert guidance, and there is state-of-the-art navigation equipment.
As well as the chance to enjoy bobbing about at anchor, there are trips to Bruny Island which can include accommodation ashore. Bruny is perfect for wildlife photography, and Sailtas make sure they ‘tread lightly and quietly on the planet’ as you get close to the wombats, dolphins, whales, seals and birdlife the area is home to. There are also opportunities for walking, snorkelling, flathead fishing, admiring the picturesque cliff faces and, no matter what the weather has to throw at you, there is full protection from the elements on board.
For those of you who are travelling solo, Sailtas can arrange for you to join an existing group (as there is a minimum of two for any trip). Voyages depart from Kettering, about forty-five minutes’ drive from HBA Hobart Airport.
This vessel pulls anchor and sets sail from Kettering for at least part of your stay.
A restaurant, a bar/lounge, and a microwave in a common area are available at this smoke-free cruise ship. Free continental breakfast and free self parking are also provided. Other amenities include a refrigerator in a common area and barbecue grills.
All 3 rooms offer balconies, free bottled water, and ceiling fans. Guests will also find showers and free toiletries.
Just what we were hoping for! People who want a more intimate, relaxed cruising experience should sign on for a voyage with Jamie and Pamela. They are truly genuine people, who treat each other with great respect. The atmosphere is calm, and the seas and sights are gorgeous. We enjoyed our sail over by Bruny Island with quite strong winds, but stopped and anchored at “the duck pond” for some refreshments and conversation. Learning more about the vessel, their travels and other things was a lovely way to spend a late afternoon. Coming back into the harbour as the sun was dropping was beautiful. Twilight sail & swim We enjoyed a beautiful sailing trip with Skipper Jamie and his wonderful partner, Pamela. Along with their warm hospitality, we loved the opportunity to jump off the yacht for a swim. We saw seals and enjoyed a stunning sunset from the water. Highly recommend the twilight sail (and swim!) … weather/water permitting!
xpectations Exceeded Booked an overnight sail that turned into much more! Stunning Bruny Island scenery, with unmatched peace and tranquillity. Instead of finishing the next day accepted the twilight racing invite out of Kettering with bbq after. James and Pamela are great skipper/hosts, meals were just right! Highly recommend...
