The kitchen facilities at Mandala Bruny Island are the bees knees. Whether you prefer your coffee from a plunger or a percolator, you have the facilities for both as well as for making tea. There is an electric oven and a gas hob, a microwave, a fridge, a bar fridge, a toaster and a dishwasher. For the gadget freak, you will also have the use of a bread maker, a food mixer, a sandwich toaster and a variety of baking equipment, as well as fa full range of cooking utensils, cutlery and dining crockery. The dining table can seat up to twelve people when extended, and there is a high chair as well.

The entertainment options are almost as wide as the cook’s, with free wireless internet, a smart TV, movies available on Netflix, a range of board games, quite a lot of children’s toys, a reading library and a Bluetooth-equipped stereo system. There is a separate games room which has its own private deck and features a table-tennis tale, a cubby house with an assortment of toys, another stereo system, a range of fishing equipment and five free-to-use kayaks. The house has a spacious deck which affords wonderful views across the channel, has barbecue equipment and there is a child safety gate for your peace of mind. You can reach the waterfront and the walking track along the island’s foreshore directly from the property itself, and there is a pretty landscaped garden as well as a large area to park in.

Nearby Alonnah has a general store, a restaurant and a bottle shop, and you have literally miles of sandy beaches to explore, as well as the Tasmanian wilderness around you. A drive of no more than thirty minutes can take you to Luanwanna Lighthouse, Adventure Bay (with a larger general store, petrol station and an ATM), or you could visit Bruny’s premium winery, Bruny Island Cheese or, season permitting, Get Shucked! oysters.
