This large, spacious and well equipped house, all to yourself, gives you a comfortable base so that you can explore the remote and pretty southern tip of Flinders Island, with the bay on your doorstep.
The maximum occupancy is six, in three bedrooms and with a variety of sleeping arrangements as the double and single-size beds can be combined several ways. Both a shower and a bath can be found in the building, along with laundry and cooking facilities.
The laundry room includes a washer and dryer, in addition to the property’s rotary clothes line, while the kitchen is a modern, spacious affair that has an oven and stove top, a microwave, a refrigerator, a toaster, tea and coffee-making essentials, a six-seater wooden dining table and plenty of crockery. Lady Barron Holiday Home includes reverse-cycle heating and cooling, plus a wood heater in the living room. There is also a fan heater if you prefer something less time-consuming to get going.
For indoor entertainment, a CD player, television and video recorder are among the gadgets that come with the house, and other useful additions include a clock radio, a fan, an electric blanket, a hair dryer, a telephone and, for that crease-free holiday perfection, an iron. Outside you can enjoy the beautiful views of the sea and nearby islands on the balcony. You are just moments away from the water’s edge and the wonderful sandy beaches.
Among the places you might like to visit while staying on this remote island, Vinegar Hill lookout is particularly interesting. From here you can see the wreck of the Farsund and, in fine weather, Furneaux Island. Then there is Patriarch’s Wildlife Sanctuary, Furneaux Art Gallery and Wybalenna Historic Site to explore. Lady Barron Holiday Home is also not far from a supermarket, post office, newsagent’s and a great place for eating out at Furneaux Tavern and Restaurant.
Situated in Lady Barron, this vacation home is within a 15-minute walk of Lady Barron Wharf, St. Barnabas Anglican Church, and Great Dog Island Indigenous Protected Area. Little Green Island Conservation Area and Briggs Islet Conservation Area are also within 2 mi (3 km).
