Forest Walks Lodge

Jackeys Marsh - Central Highlands

Voted by Trip Advisor one of the top twenty-five small hotels in Australia, surrounded by mountains and wildlife, this intimate guest house is perfect for a getaway or as a starting point for exploring the local paradise of the tall forests and open grasslands, and with some of the most amazing food as well.

All three bedrooms enjoy natural lighting, shade in the hotter months and underfloor heating at other times. Your en-suite bathroom includes hand-made soap, eco-shampoo, large and soft towels, and the bed is furnished with high-quality linens. There are beautiful, locally produced artworks decorating the walls and, when you go through the external door, you have a patio to relax on as you enjoy the spectacular views that make Forest Walks Lodge such a draw with visitors to the area.

Getting down to specifics, the rooms on offer are Deluxe, Queen and Twin. The latter can also be made up as a Triple. The bathrooms of Deluxe and Queen each have both a bath and shower, and the Queen even has room under the roof for stowing bicycles. Wireless internet and parking are both free, and as well as luggage storage, tour and ticket booking, and barbecue equipment, you can also make use of a concierge service and a library.

While there is no fridge or television in any of the Forest Walks Lodge rooms, you are allowed to use the kitchen area for food storage. There is a selection of DVDs if you have brought your own laptop, and some children’s toys are also available. The lodge is off the electricity grid, which explains the smaller number of mod cons, but there is gas heating in some rooms, a generator for the premises and, thanks to this, tea and coffee facilities in the guest area.

Continental breakfast, as well as lunch and dinner, can be booked in advance. You can even enjoy a glass of Tasmanian wine with your meal. There is in fact a Degustation Dining Experience and Tour for those wishing to book the entire property for two days, during which a five-course meal is complemented by a champagne breakfast and even airport transfers.

For the outward bound among you, there are some of the most scenic cycling routes in northern Tasmania, long and short walks, including guided trips, fly-fishing opportunities galore in the surrounding lakes, rivers and streams, and if you head off to nearby Mole Creek then you can explore the subterranean wonders in the competent hands of fully accredited guides. Forest Walks Lodge is available for weddings, and there are even twice-weekly yoga classes (mats and blankets supplied). All this is just about an hour’s drive from Launceston and Devonport airports.

Situated in Jackeys Marsh, this bed & breakfast is 0.1 mi (0.1 km) from Tasmanian Wilderness and within 16 mi (25 km) of 41° South Tasmania and Three Willows Vineyard. St. Marks Church and Deloraine and Districts Folk Museum are also within 16 mi (25 km).

A bar/lounge, coffee/tea in a common area, and concierge services are available at this smoke-free bed & breakfast. Free full breakfast is provided, as well as free WiFi in public areas, free self parking, and a free manager’s reception. Additionally, a 24-hour front desk, a library, and express check-in are onsite.

Housekeeping is not available.
