You'll find the trailhead to this easy stroll behind the world-famous Cascade Brewery making it one of the closest nature walks to Hobart CBD. The track is well-kept, wide and gently climbs 230 metres over the span of 2.4 kilometres. With its proximity to the city and its compact surface, you'll find plenty of joggers and brisk walkers on the trail. It's a great way to escape busy city life for just a moment.
Turn right onto Marlyn Road just past the Cascade Brewery to find the trailhead. There is a small carpark behind the brewery. Both the trail and the carpark are well signposted.
This walk is right at the edge of Wellington Park. You don't need to head to the park or drive up any elevation making the ride a rather quick 15 minutes from Hobart CBD. The drive from Launceston takes two hours and 44 minutes while the drive from Devonport takes three hours and 33 minutes.
The slightly graded track takes you through dry sclerophyll forest before reaching Guy Fawkes Rivulet. You'll then pass through giant fern gullies before finishing at the end of Old Farm Road. Here you'll find signs for trails leading up to the higher elevations of the park that will take you to The Springs and Junction Cabin. If you're not keen for a steep ascent, it's time to turn around to head back to the carpark.
