Day 1: Cradle Valley Boardwalk, Weindorfers Forest, and Waldheim

  • Highlights: Start your adventure with a gentle walk along the Cradle Valley Boardwalk, exploring the diverse flora and searching for wombats on the grassy plains. Visit the historic Waldheim Chalet and delve into an ancient forest of myrtle beech and king billy pine.

Day 2: Hansons Peak and Twisted Lakes

  • Location: Eastern Cradle Mountain
  • Distance: 10 km
  • Grade: Hard (Grade 3 – 4)
  • Highlights: Ascend Hansons Peak for a unique view of Cradle Mountain and its surrounding lakes. Traverse the serene Twisted Lakes and Lake Hanson, set amidst endemic pencil pines and fagus, offering a tranquil and secluded experience.

Day 3: Lake Lilla, Wombat Pool, Marion’s Lookout, and Crater Falls

  • Location: Central Cradle Mountain
  • Distance: 7.5 km
  • Grade: Moderate to Hard (Grade 3 – 4)
  • Highlights: Witness some of Australia’s most breathtaking alpine scenery, from the picturesque Wombat Pool to the panoramic views at Marion’s Lookout. Descend towards Crater Lake and pass the enchanting Crater Falls on your journey.

  • Highlights: Conclude your tour with a relaxing walk around Dove Lake, taking in the majestic Cradle Mountain backdrop and exploring the lush rainforest. Visit the iconic boatshed and possibly take a refreshing swim at one of the lake’s sandy beaches.
