Tranquil Point
Panoramic ocean views and a backdrop of the Hartz Mountains are the setting for this friendly lodge, ideal for groups such as families on holidays or for training courses, with plenty of open space in a quiet location (it’s aptly named, that’s for sure!), and there are several natural wonders such as the thermal springs and Mount Wellington in moderate driving distance.
There are seven rooms at Tranquil Point, with a mixture of queen, single and double beds, linens made from locally sources sheep’s wool, and some have floor-to-ceiling windows. The entire house is available for group bookings, hence its popularity with retreat organisers. There is an absolutely beautiful garden, complete with a picnic area and barbecue equipment, and the house has wireless internet in some places. The all-important iron and ironing board have not been forgotten, and one unexpected extra is the opportunity for a wide range of massage and spa services. Tranquil Point has free self-parking, and the shared bathrooms are accessible to those with mobility impairments. A limited housekeeping service is also available.
Dining is available not far from the property at Oyster Cove Hotel in Kettering, the Red Velvet Lounge in Cygnet and also there’s the Grand Vewe Cheesery in Woodbridge.
Although many people come to Tranquil Point for pre-arranged group activities, such as teaching or yoga courses, there are plenty of ways of spending your time in the surrounding area. Those with a good head for heights can see what a rainforest looks like from the treetops at Tahune Airwalk, while back on terra firma there are the fascinating Hastings Caves and the nearby Thermal Springs. You can travel along the narrow-gauge Ida Bay Railway (a round trip takes two hours), or take the boat to Bruny Island, plus there are several walking routes in the area.
Nestled on the beach, this Deep Bay lodge is within 6 mi (10 km) of Echo Sugarloaf State Reserve, Randalls Bay Beach, and Mickeys Beach. Eggs & Bacon Bay Beach and Burtons Reserve are also within 6 mi (10 km).
Guests at this beach lodge will appreciate convenient onsite amenities such as barbecue grills and a picnic area.
Bathrooms are shared and limited housekeeping is available.
Tranquil Point is a special part of the world. I loved connecting with nature again and can’t wait to return – much longer next time.
Magical place, amazing people.
Amazing! All that is Tranquil Point has inspired body, mind and spirit.
