The Nook Backpackers
If dormitory accommodation is your thing, you have a near-perfect combination of a budget stay and a central location in Hobart, with communal facilities such as round-the-clock coffee, and a few private rooms for couples.
Dormitories range from four to fourteen-bed mixed, along with a ten-bed female dorm. There are lockers and bedding on the bunk beds. In the private dorm, as well as the rooms, towels are provided and all guests can request a hair dryer. There are, of course, shared bathroom facilities and a communal kitchen, sporting a microwave and refrigerator among other equipment, with free wireless internet throughout the building.
Wheelchair-accessible, pet-free and for non-smokers only, The Nook Backpackers has an area which includes tea and coffee-making equipment to which all staying here may use at any time of the day or night. A limited amount of parking, subject to a fee, is on the premises and reception is open from eight in the morning to eight at night, staying open an extra hour during peak season. Reception doubles up as a tour desk, and on top of the many attractions your genial hosts can recommend there is a particularly popular shuttle bus to Mount Wellington which runs Tuesdays and Thursdays if there are at least five passengers for it. It’s actually free outside the peak season, and just ten dollars a head at other times.
A bar with a lounge area, a garden and barbecue equipment add to the comfort of your stay, as does a television in the lobby and a number of vending machines. Space is available for luggage storage, and a daily housekeeping service is provided. Booking the Private Queen room means that either two adults or an adult and one child can be accommodated, with complimentary bottled water thrown in for good measure.
With The Nook Backpackers being located in the Central Business District, many other attractions are within a fifteen-minute walk, including the Playhouse Theatre, Salamanca Market, Hobart Town Hall and Brooke Street Pier. It takes just a quarter of an hour to drive to HBA Hobart International Airport, and about ten to reach a little slice of history in the form of Tasmanian Transport Museum Station, part of the now-defunct passenger rail network and a chance to see a steam locomotive in action during the high season.
This hostel is situated in the city center.
Along with a bar/lounge, this smoke-free hostel has a microwave in a common area and a refrigerator in a common area. WiFi in public areas is free. Additionally, laundry facilities, tour/ticket assistance, and barbecue grills are onsite.
Bathrooms are shared.
