These self-contained cottages give you fantastic views of the mountains and the water, perfect if you want to get away from it all and still under an hour from the centre of Hobart.
Each cottage, one or two-bedroom including a luxury spa cottage, has plenty of space inside and you have the comfort of a queen-size bed, complete with electric blankets. The whole place, including the en-suite bathroom, is kept warm with electric heating, you have the security of off-street parking, and all you need for doing your laundry can be found in the building including an iron and an ironing board. There is a hair-dryer, a television with a DVD player and a stereo plus wi-fi.
The kitchen comes with all the cooking facilities you need including a set of hobs, an oven, a fridge, a microwave, an electric kettle, numerous pieces of cookware, cutlery and dishes, everything for making a cup of tea and coffee, and if you fancy a barbecue out on the furnished patio there is an electric set for your use. The proprietors at Port Huon Cottages even have some fishing tackle and lines you can borrow, as the river location is a good place for a spot of angling.
It only takes forty-five minutes to drive to Port Huon Cottages from Hobart International Airport, and the smoke-free, pet-free accommodation makes a good base for exploring Port Huon itself. For those who prefer to stay in the immediate vicinity, Esperance Bay Park and Kents Beach are well worth visiting. For those who would like to explore a bit further afield, there’s Tahune Airwalk, Hastings Caves and Thermal Springs and Mount Wellington all in under an hour’s drive. The Ida Bay Railway, a heritage line offering a two-hour round trip on a restored track near to Southport Lagoon.
Situated near the bay, this cottage is 0.9 mi (1.4 km) from Port Huon Marina and within 3 mi (5 km) of Forest & Heritage Centre and Platypus Walk Trailhead. The Wooden Boat Centre and Egg Islands Conservation Area are also within 9 mi (15 km).
