Omaroo Cottage
Stay in a self-contained cottage in the south of Bruny Island with two bedrooms, internet and TV, a full kitchen, laundry, a large fenced garden and a short walk to the beach, with a restaurant a couple of minutes away in the car.
Sheets, pillows and doonas can be found on all beds: the queen-size in the first bedroom and the two king singles in the second. Wardrobe space means you won’t be living out of a suitcase, and there are bedside tables and reading lamps. When it comes to the bathroom, a shower, toilet and washbasin are provided in a quite spacious area, along with towels and toiletries.
The kitchen at Omaroo Cottage is equipped with an electric oven with a stove top, a microwave, a refrigerator, a toaster, another toaster – this time specially for doing sandwiches in, a kettle, a coffee plunger and a supply of tea and ground coffee. Meals can be enjoyed at the six-seater dining table, where you can enjoy the view of the island and channel while you eat, and there is even an assortment of plates, bowls and other dishes, plus cutlery and cookware.
Other practical matters can be attended to thanks to the inclusion of a washing machine, an iron and ironing board, a hair dryer, reverse-cycle heating and air conditioning, a portable cot and, on request and for a surcharge, a fold-up bed that can add sleeping space for another two guests. Pet and child-friendly, Omaroo Cottage includes a large, fully fenced garden which, as well as having outdoor furniture for that perfect al-fresco dinner, is excellent for letting the kids run around, while there is also a supply of toys and even an indoor play area.
Free wireless internet, a smart television with Netflix and a modern sofa with cushions to watch it from give you some entertainment while you are here, while a mere five hundred metres away is the glorious beach, perfect for swimming. The foreshore track is a lovely place to go for a walk, and if you prefer to eat out rather than self-cater, a couple of minutes in the car and you’re at a great bistro and pub, in addition to a number of shops.
Situated near the beach, this cottage is 2.1 mi (3.3 km) from Lutregala Creek Regional Reserve and 2.2 mi (3.6 km) from Sheepwash Bay Conservation Area. Bruny Island Premium Wines and Simpsons Bay Conservation Area are also within 6 mi (10 km).
