Maydena Mountain Cabins & Alpacas
The People’s Choice Winner for July – September 2009, this is four-star comfort with five-star views of the countryside and mountains, and you can get up close to the friendly alpacas that live on the property as well.
Up to six people can stay in a two-bedroom cabin and there is also a studio cabin, suitable for two. In addition to a double bed and modern furnishings, the place is fully self-contained and includes a television with a DVD player, a range of music and films, a furnished deck area and it is possible to book breakfast as well.
As you can tell from the name, Maydena Mountain Cabins & Alpacas is somewhere that allows you to meet the friendly four-legged inhabitants and many guests enjoy having their photograph taken with them. The cabins are in a part of Tasmania which is quite mountainous and not all that different from the alpaca’s native countryside.
Right on your doorstep at Maydena Mountain Cabins & Alpacas are the World Heritage sites of Southwest National Park and The Florentine, and you can wander the Styx forest walk – home to the tallest hardwood trees in the world. A thirty-kilometre drive takes you to an extensive caving system that is well worth exploring, and the area is also home to the natural wonders of Lake Dobson and Russell Falls, as well as the man-made Gordon Dam near the township of Strathgordon.
Situated in Maydena, this cabin is 0.4 mi (0.6 km) from Junee Caves and within 9 mi (15 km) of Styx Big Tree Reserve and Russell Falls. Tall Trees Walk and Horseshoe Falls are also within 12 mi (20 km).
Along with laundry facilities, this smoke-free cabin has express check-in and a garden. Free WiFi in public areas and free self parking are also provided. Other amenities include barbecue grills and a picnic area.
All 3 soundproofed cabins feature free WiFi and pillowtop beds. Guests will find kitchenettes with refrigerators, stovetops, and microwaves. Housekeeping is available on request.
Loved the cabin. Thank you for the warm welcome and yummy breakfast. A quiet gem! Best accommodation in all TAS. Thanks Derek and Anthea!
Thank you Anthea for a wonderful couple of days. The cabin was great & the scenery fantastic. Sophie & Danielle absolutely loved the alpacas & I'm sure would take them home if they could. Your attention to detail really makes your property 'stand out' from the majority & has been appreciated. Thanks again.
