Derwent Bridge Chalets & Studios
Here is a quiet place to relax next to a forest in a comfortable self-catering unit, some at the higher end of the 3.5-star range, and ideal if you are planning a walking holiday or a stopover.
The six chalets at Derwent Bridge Chalets & Studios have queen-size or single beds, one in a bunk style, and the four studios have queen-size or king single beds. Chalets all have private laundries, an en-suite shower and toilet with a separate entrance, television with a DVD player and a fully equipped kitchen. They all come with a sun deck or balcony and outdoor furniture. Studios also have an en-suite shower and toilet, as well as the DVD-equipped television, a kitchenette, a lounge, a dining area and access to a shared pay laundry. One of the studios has been specially adapted for wheelchair users, and they all have off-street parking, electric blankets, electric heating, a covered deck (complete with outdoor furniture) and among the kitchen equipment you will be pleased to find they have included a coffee plunger.
Derwent Bridge Chalets & Studios provide the necessary towels and linen for your stay, and your accommodation is kept warm with a wood or gas heater. You can, for a surcharge, have a continental breakfast in the morning, and lunch and dinner are available about 700 metres away at the Derwent Bridge Wilderness Hotel. There is a barbecue area, a garden, and this pet-free, non-smoking site also has staff who can lend a hand with ticket booking and tour organising. Luggage storage is also on offer, as is free wireless internet and you can buy a newspaper here to save yourself the trek to the nearest shop.
Derwent Bridge Chalets & Studios are in a somewhat remote location, which is part of their charm. Of the many attractions which this affords there is trout fishing in the lakes and lagoon a few kilometres away, trekking on the Overland Track a mere five kilometres away, and a number of day trips can be organised as well. Lake St Clair ferry offers amazing views and a round trip lasts about an hour and a half.
Situated in Derwent Bridge, this cabin is within a 10-minute walk of Tasmanian Wilderness and Cradle Mountain-Lake St. Clair National Park. The Wall in the Wilderness and Franklin-Gordon Wild Rivers National Park are also within 1 mi (2 km).
Along with WiFi in public areas, this smoke-free cabin has laundry facilities and tour/ticket assistance. Self parking is free. Other amenities include a garden and barbecue grills.
