Cambridge House
A four-star bed-and-breakfast which does not feature any shared facilities means you get the privacy of a hotel and the friendly, snug comfort of a boarding house, and a very beautiful house it is at that. Don’t forget to see the family of platypuses at the end of the garden!
All the rooms are of the same high quality, although the arrangements differ. A suite has a queen size bed and an en-suite bathroom. One has a second room with a king single bed. There are three more rooms, two double and one twin, two of which have en-suite bathrooms and one with its own bathroom. The bedding is wonderfully comfortable, and every room at Cambridge House has free wireless internet, electric blankets, an iron and an ironing board, heating, fans and you can make tea or coffee with the facilities provided. Some rooms have a television, a DVD player, a combined radio and alarm clock, a fridge, and a walk-in shower and bath.
One of the perks of staying at Cambridge House is that you get your own key to the front door, so you can basically come and go at any time of the day or night. This B&B does not have any shared, communal facilities, although there is a large guests’ lounge and a veranda, and like all such hotels, there is breakfast, which comes in the form of a delicious cooked one. The staff make good use of local Tasmanian produce in its ingredients. Parking, as you can expect, is free of charge. Children are welcome.
There is a delightful garden and down at the end you can usually find a family of duck-billed platypuses, so the owners recommend you bring a camera with you! Please do not bring pets though.
Nearby, there are cafes and restaurants in the town, Geeveston, as well as attractions such as the Forest and Heritage Centre. Further along the road is Hobart, about fifty minutes’ drive away. You are also about forty minutes by car from Hastings Caves and Thermal Springs.
Situated on a river, this bed & breakfast is within a 10-minute walk of Forest & Heritage Centre and Platypus Walk Trailhead. Hartz Mountains National Park and Egg Islands Conservation Area are also within 12 mi (20 km).
This smoke-free bed & breakfast features a restaurant, a snack bar/deli, and coffee/tea in a common area. Free cooked-to-order breakfast, free WiFi in public areas, and free self parking are also provided. Additionally, a library, tour/ticket assistance, and a garden are onsite.
Housekeeping is available on request.
