Sawyers Bay Shacks
Sit in front of a roaring fireplace or take in the panoramic beauty of the wilderness and the beach, and there is no one else literally for miles around as you enjoy your stay in this fully equipped island paradise.
Sawyers Bay Shacks consist of two spacious cabins, each with a large open-plan living area and shower-equipped bathroom. The two-bedroom shack has sleeping arrangements for up to five, while the three-bedroom shack can sleep a maximum of eight.
Outside there is are decks on three sides of the shack, with barbecue equipment available, and the property is remote, with no public access for miles. It is, however, very well equipped inside. The kitchen has all the important cookware, utensils and dishes, as well as an oven, a stove top, a full-size fridge, tea and coffee-making equipment and a dishwasher. The beds have high-quality linen and bedding, the living area has a flat-screen television plus a DVD player, and if you want to curl up in with a book in front of the wood-burning fireplace, either indoors or out (the double fireplace is also on the outside deck area), there is a well stocked library.
Feel free to bring your pet, although notify the owners when you book, and Sawyers Bay Shacks have generously provided designated smoking areas. They haven’t forgotten little things like an ironing board, an iron and a hair dryer either. You can even make use of a crib for no extra charge, if you have an infant among the guests.
Your own private beach awaits you, recently nominated Australia’s Top Secret Beach by The Age. The main town of Whitemark is fifteen minutes’ drive away, the airport ten minutes and everything else on the island is no more than forty minutes in the car, so if you want to visit Furneaux Museum, Killiecrankie Beach or Strzelecki National Park, you won’t have far to go.
Nestled on the beach, this Blue Rocks cabin is 0.3 mi (0.5 km) from Mulligans Hill Conservation Area and 2.6 mi (4.1 km) from Sawyers Bay Beach. Emita Beach and Allports Beach are also within 6 mi (10 km).
Along with a library, this cabin has barbecue grills and free self parking.
All 2 cabins boast fireplaces and offer kitchens and balconies or patios. Dining areas and sitting areas are standard, as are flat-screen TVs with DVD players. Housekeeping is not available.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Sawyers Bay shack. We had a great time. The shack is conveniently situated to enjoy all that is to offer on the island, and it is extremely comfortable and well appointed. We would definitely recommend a stay there. Cheers.
Thanks, and by the way we loved Flinders Island so much we decided to live there and bought a house on Palana Road. Might run into you somewhere on the Island. Best wishes.
We had a very relaxing break and enjoyed the shack and Flinders very much….have been spreading the word since our return home! Time seemed to stand still, which was very good, as it was our only holiday since the previous January and we were desperately in need of a wind down. We will certainly return again.
