Day 1: Arrive in Devonport and travel to New Norfolk

Arrive in Devonport on the Spirit of Tasmania with your car and fishing gear, then drive approximately 3.5 hours to New Norfolk. Explore the town and visit the Salmon Ponds Heritage Hatchery and Gardens. You can also fish in the Derwent River, known for its brown trout, Atlantic salmon, and bream, providing a great start to your fishing adventure.

Day 2: New Norfolk to Lake Pedder via Maydena

From New Norfolk, drive to Lake Pedder for exceptional brown trout fishing in a stunning wilderness setting. Afterward, unwind in your accommodation in Maydena.

Day 3: Maydena to Bronte Lagoon

Drive from Maydena to Bronte Park, a journey of about 1.5 hours. Once there, settle into your accommodation and head to Bronte Lagoon for a relaxing afternoon of fishing. This popular spot is ideal for catching brown and rainbow trout.

Day 4: Central Highlands Fishing

Fish for brown and rainbow trout at the Great Lake, one of Tasmania’s largest freshwater lakes, then head to Arthurs Lake, another renowned trout fishing spot, where you can fish from the shore or hire a boat for a better reach. Return to Bronte Park to relax after your fishing adventures.

Day 5: Central Highlands to Lake Leake

Journey from the Central Highlands to Lake Leake. Spend the day fishing for trout in this peaceful lake and then check in at the historic Lake Leake Inn for a relaxing stay.

Day 6: Lake Leake to Bicheno

Take a scenic drive from Lake Leake to Bicheno. Spend the day rock and beach fishing for Australian salmon and squid, and in the evening, join a guided tour to watch the little penguins return to shore at dusk.

Day 7: Bicheno to St Helens

Day 8: St Helens to Devonport via Launceston
