Everything here is a room with a view, some of the sea and some of the garden, while an Executive Self-Catering Apartment includes a superb-quality lounge, a dining area and a kitchen. Garden Rooms have direct access to the garden, with beds the proprietors describe as executive quality.

The garden itself is secluded, with picnic tables and a barbecue area which is also at the guests’ disposal. Wellers Inn presents an ideal opportunity for business purposes, as it has a spacious meeting room that can be configured for up to one hundred in Theatre mode and twenty in the Board Room variation. When hired, you also get whiteboard pens, TV and VCR, iced water and mints, a lectern and a projector screen to use as you see fit. Buffet and cooked, made-to-order breakfasts are available from Monday to Friday (with room service seven days a week), and it is possible to tailor a la carte or set menus for large gatherings. As with other parts of the hotel, the restaurant has fantastic views, and a licensed bar with a lounge is a good place to enjoy a glass of Tasmanian wine or beer, or even a cocktail, in front of a roaring log fire.

Burnie’s CBD (Central Business District) is about three blocks from Wellers Inn, so if you are here for an event at the Burnie Arts and Function Centre it’s about five minutes on foot, and roughly the same distance is Burnie Waterfront Boardwalk. There is plenty to see at the seafront, such as The Little Penguin Observation Centre, and there’s also the Fernglade Platypus Trail a few minutes away by car. The largest handmade paper-making mill, the Creative Paper Mill, is also nearby, while local and interstate artists’ work is on display at the Burnie Regional Art Gallery.
