Turret House
Your hosts are friendly and knowledgeable of the area and the house is picturesque, comfortable and in an excellent location for Cataract Gorge or the business district of Launceston.
There are three rooms, with a king or queen-size bed (the king-size can be turned into two singles). All rooms have an en-suite bathroom, smart television, keyless locks, heating, a minibar, a fridge, a hairdryer, tea and coffee-making equipment, a toaster and wireless internet at no extra cost. They are decorated with a number of paintings from Tasmanian artists, and you will find the owners have left you a hamper containing all you need for a good continental breakfast. Laundry facilities are available on request.
The common areas at Turret House include a lounge with a piano, a selection of board and card games and a wide range of things to read. As well as a verandah on the ground floor there is a viewing platform at the top, up a box staircase, which affords impressive views of Launceston and the two rivers converging.
Only about five minutes’ walk from Turret House is the beautiful Cataract Gorge, home to the longest single-span chairlift and well equipped with everything a family on holiday needs. If you are here on business, the Central Business District (CBD) is roughly a quarter of an hour away. Two of Launceston’s most awarded restaurants, Cataract on Patersons and Stillwater, are only a couple of minutes away as well. The guesthouse is on the Tamar Valley Wine Route and Touring Route, and on top of all that the owners have a wide range of suggestions for places to visit, being fifth-generation Tasmanians themselves.
Located in Trevallyn, this bed & breakfast is within 1 mi (2 km) of Penny Royal Adventures, Launceston College, and Queen Victoria Museum. Royal Park and Brisbane Street Mall are also within 1 mi (2 km).
