The main open-plan living area at Peppermint Ridge Retreat, with a basic kitchenette to one side, has modern furniture and appliances, including a television with a DVD player, as well as contemporary décor. The double-glazed windows are a whopping six metres in height, so you can sit here in comfort and just admire the view of the D’Entrecasteaux Channel below and Bruny Island in the distance, enjoying a drink from the mini-bar or, in colder weather you can relax in front of the solid-fuel fireplace in the corner.

Your hosts have included provisions for a continental breakfast on your first day, a refrigerator, a coffee maker and a kettle for the tea-lovers among you, and your private deck area has a barbecue set for a truly traditional outdoor dining experience. Peppermint Ridge Retreat has a washer, dryer, iron and ironing board so your laundry needs are sorted, there is no difficulty in parking the car at the property (free of charge, naturally), and it’s all pet-free and non-smoking, so no stale tobacco smell to greet you when you come in.

When it comes to exploring the local area, you are in for a treat. A restaurant, market and vineyard are just three things you can reach in a mere five minutes, while a Bruny Island Eco cruise is about three quarters of an hour away. In between, distance-wise, are Inverawe Native Gardens, Grandvewe Sheep Cheesery, Hartshorn Distillery and Huon Jet Boats. The Retreat is located in a World Heritage wilderness region, full of hidden bays and wild coastlines, with Huon Valley and Bruny Island among the destinations that await.
