For those who prefer a lower-budget stay, Gum Grove dormitory has space for a maximum of sixty-four, commercial kitchens, plenty of dining space, an activity room which includes its own kitchenette, a barbecue area and a huge outdoor fireplace, ideal for telling ‘It was a dark and stormy night’-type stories. A second dormitory, called Candle Bark, sleeps twenty-one, also with a large kitchen, a dining area and an outdoor barbecue area. Depending on availability, an extra eight may stay in a set of outside cabin rooms.

Finally, there is an amenities block, a barbecue area and a communal fireplace, along with powered sites for guests to plug their caravans into. The camp site, next to the lake, park and obstacle course, has fire pots, a camp kitchen, barbecue areas, a communal fireplace and various amenities to make your stay that bit more comfortable than if you were just roughing it.

On site activities at Gumleaves Bush Holidays includes boating on Lake Mulga, mini golf, tennis, tyres for swinging on, a children’s playground and the previously mentioned obstacle course. Bush walkers are in their element here, and it is perfect for anyone who has brought a bike. There are resident deer and horses you are welcome to give a carrot to at feeding time, or head off to the small fishing town of Triabuna, just fifteen minutes away, where you can catch the ferry to Maria Island. Day trips that are ideal from Gumleaves include the seaside town of Swansea, Zoodoo Zoo, Richmond and the truly wonderful beauty of Freycinet National Park, about an hour away by car.
