Set in the beautiful mountains of St Clair National Park, enjoy the natural bushland setting in secluded, self-contained hand-built cabins just on the doorstep of Cradle Mountain Visitor Centre.
There are sixteen cabins for you to choose from at Cradle Mountain Highlanders Cottages, some of them spas, many with wonderful names such as ‘Buttonwood’, ‘Telopea’ and ‘Lanceolata’. Each one is furnished with its own kitchen and bathroom, complete with shower and hairdryer. Despite the rustic look to the place, the modern marvels of wifi and DVD-equipped television are on hand, as well as a coffee maker. While rollaway beds are not possible, cribs are, so that should not pose a problem to those with infants in tow.
There is no charge for parking here and the hotel provides daily housekeeping and laundry services on site, as well as luggage storage. There are barbecue grills available as well. Should you need any assistance with either the booking of local tours or the purchase of tickets, this is also possible at Cradle Mountain Highlanders Cottages.
In fact, it is what is off site which is the greatest draw. Just down the road is the famous Devils At Cradle, where you can find the indigenous Tasmanian Devils in a world-class conservation facility. The highly regarded Enchanted Nature Walk is only a little further afield, and a mere fifteen minutes of driving or shuttle bus takes you to the edge of Dove Lake, where you can take in the most spectacular views of Cradle Mountain. A myriad of walking and cycling trails can be found in the area, and everything from horse-riding and canoeing to helicopter flights. It is a good idea to come prepared for a variety of weather conditions from brilliant sunshine to driving snow, often on the same day!
