Spacious, comfortable and peaceful, with modern furniture and equipment, this converted farm shed is a great place to retreat to if you want some splendid isolation, and is near enough to Hobart to be a convenient base for exploration.

The bedroom has a queen-size bed and also a crib, so it sleeps up to three if one is an infant. In the bathroom there’s a deep tub with a shower, and both rooms lead directly onto the open-plan living space and dining area. The central feature of this is a charming wood-burner, so you can come back to a welcoming real fire and relax in front of it on the modern, comfortable sofa. The floors are made of 100-year-old hardwood, and your ceiling stretches skyward as if it were a cathedral. There is also a flat-screen television to watch, and you can connect to the internet while you are staying at Big Shed House. Your cooking arrangements are well taken care of, with an oven, stove, fridge, microwave, toaster and coffee maker, to say nothing of dishes and utensils. A dishwasher adds to the convenience, and a large dining table with space for at least six people sits near huge windows bringing in plenty of natural light, although you are not short of electric lighting when the sun goes down.
