Belmont Homestead
Here is a quiet place to stay in spectacular surroundings, whether you want a cosy hideaway for two or if eight of you prefer to book all three properties together, and the location brings many of Swansea’s places of interest within a comfortable driving range.
There are three accommodation options at Belmont Homestead, with the largest, for six, being the Belmont Wing. It has a queen-size bed in one room and two sets of single bunks in the other, an en-suite bathroom, a full kitchen with a cooker, fridge-freezer and microwave, a television, and a lounge with a cosy wood heater. The place is furnished to an exceptionally high standard, and the use of the extensive, attractive garden is included in the price. The Belmont Wing is suitable for wheelchair users.
Two can stay at the romantic nineteenth-century Bentmore Cottage. This has a queen-size bed and an en-suite bathroom as well, plus a kitchenette that contains a microwave oven, a refrigerator and equipment for making tea and coffee. Heating comes in the form of a wood-burning heater, and there is a lovely pair of antique-looking chairs indoors plus a furnished deck area outside, where you can watch the Wye river flowing past.
Then there’s Gypsy Rose, a van converted into sleeping accommodation with a a queen-size bed, en-suite bathroom, and also a mini kitchenette in the form of a microwave and some bar-sized facilities, including a toaster and equipment for making tea and coffee. There is a patio umbrella outside, while inside you have a television and a bluetooth clock radio, complete with a USB charging port. When the weather deems it appropriate, you can even see the river running past your furnished deck platform.
It goes without saying that all of the bedding is provided for you, linens of a high quality, as well as toiletries in the bathrooms. The owners have been thoughtful enough to ensure you have an iron and ironing board, as well as a hair dryer. There is luggage storage available, daily housekeeping, and it is possible to contact the proprietors to arrange for a crib if you need one.
Belmont Homestead is in a part of Tasmania full of vineyards and is not far from the East Coast Heritage Museum and the Swansea Bark Mill Museum. A drive of under an hour can take you to the embarkation point for either Wineglass Bay Cruises or, for those keen to explore Maria Island National Park, East Coast Cruises. Freycinet Air offer scenic flights over this beautiful region, taking off about thirty minutes to the north. Naturally, Coles Bay and the Bay of Fires are big tourist draws, while those wishing to see some of the wildlife may enjoy Bicheno Penguin Tours and East Coast Natureworld.
