Blueberry B & B

The one-bedroom option at Blueberry B&B includes a spacious living room, a skylight and a separate kitchen. The three-bedroom one has its own separate entrance, parking just five metres from the door and provisions for a continental breakfast. Wireless internet is available for free, and the whole place is air-conditioned.

As well as the seating and dining area, guests have access to a kitchen with an oven, a microwave, a kettle and a toaster. There is also a barbecue set and, for those dining at the B&B, it is possible to arrange for special menus. The staff are multilingual and can help with the booking of tours and tickets. There is also luggage storage available, and guests can wander around the very attractive garden or just relax outside on the porch next to this season’s stack of firewood.

There’s quite a lot here in Heybridge, as not only are there the clean sands of Sulpher Creek Beach but there is Sulpher Creek Recreation Area, the chance to sample some of the spirits at Hellyers Road Distillery, the amazing blooms of Emu Valley Rhododendron Garden and Fern Glade Reserve, all between about five and twenty minutes’ drive from Blueberry B&B. A drive along the cost in a westerly direction takes you to all the attractions of Burnie, while if you head off the opposite way there is the seaside town of Penguin, complete with its huge concrete-and-fibreglass mascot and miniature railway. Much nearer are some scenic hiking and cycling routes and ecotours.
