Day 1 - Hobart to Melaleuca, Walk to Cox's Bight (Point Eric)

Your adventure begins with an 8am briefing at Rock It Climbing Centre in Hobart, followed by a scenic 11:30am flight from Cambridge Airport to remote Melaleuca—a stunning highlight of the trip. Upon landing, we start our trek to the coast, arriving at Point Eric to set up camp by the water. The evening is yours to relax with a hot drink, enjoy a beach stroll, swim, or even a game of beach cricket before dinner.

**You will need to arrive into Hobart the day before the trip in case there are any last minute changes to the flight to Melaleuca.

Day 2 - Cox’s Bight to Louisa River

After breakfast, we follow the beach, timing our walk with the tides to navigate a rocky headland before heading inland across sedge and Melaleuca-covered plains. A short but steep climb over Red Point Hills rewards us with sweeping views before we descend toward Louisa Creek and continue through muddy tracks to Louisa River. We set up camp in the tranquil eucalypt forest beneath the imposing Ironbound Range, ready for an early start the next day.

Day 3 - Louisa River to Little Deadman's Beach via the Ironbounds

Today we tackle the mighty Ironbound Range, climbing nearly 1000 metres from sea level to its exposed, windswept summit. The challenging ascent rewards us with spectacular views stretching from Federation Peak to South West Cape, weather permitting. After reaching the top, we descend through dense rainforest and coastal scrub to our campsite at Little Deadman’s Bay.

Day 4 - Rest day at Little Deadman's Bay

Today is the only full rest day on the tour and is a well earned break after some big days. It’s a wonderful treat to read a book, play some cards and let your body relax and recover from the last few days’ activity. Your guides will spend some time today re-supplying from our nearby food-drop.

Day 5 - Little Deadman's Bay to Osmiridium Beach

Feeling refreshed, we look forward to tackling some of the track’s best mud holes, a challenging rowboat lagoon crossing and walking along the coast’s longest beach. We trek over broad sand dunes, wade across watercourses and climb over headlands letting no obstacles stand in our way! There are a few campsite choices for tonight and your guides will decide where to stay based on the availability of fresh water, the fitness of the group members and their own personal favourite spots where they may know special sights and hidden points of interest.

Day 6 - Osmiridium Beach to Granite Beach

This relaxed day is a favourite for many, as we meander through lush wet sclerophyll forest, hopping from beach to beach with plenty of time to swim, explore fossils, or simply unwind. A long lunch at Surprise Beach leads to a scenic descent onto Granite Beach, where dramatic dolerite columns rise in the distance. Our clifftop campsite offers sweeping ocean views and a refreshing waterfall shower cascading onto the sand below.

Day 7 - Granite Beach to South Cape Rivulet

Today is a big day of ups and downs as we cross the South Cape Range to our final night’s camp at South Cape Rivulet. After a long climb to the 500m highpoint, we tackle a series of seven hills, rewarded with sweeping coastal views and diverse landscapes—from buttongrass plains to Tea Tree swamps. The day ends at one of the South Coast’s best beaches, where a refreshing swim is hard to resist.

Day 8 - South Cape Rivulet to Cockle Creek, transfer to Hobart

Our final day is a gentle and scenic conclusion to this unforgettable journey. We stroll along serene beaches and over a headland before reaching the peaceful bay of Cockle Creek, Australia’s southernmost town. From here, we’re transferred back to Hobart—where a hot shower, clean clothes, and a celebratory dinner await.
