Day 1

Arrive Hobart Airport. Collect rental car. Explore Richmond, Salamanca Place and Battery Point. Drive up Mount Wellington for views over all of Southern Tasmania.

Day 2

Drive to Port Arthur and the Tasman Peninsula. As an optional add on, visit Port Arthur Historic Site to find the best presentation of Australia’s convict history. Explore the many other sights in the area such as the spectacular sea-cliffs at Eaglehawk Neck and Devil’s Kitchen.

Day 3

Take the optional Tasman Island Eco Cruise to explore dramatic sea cliffs, seal colonies, and diverse marine wildlife.

Travel up the scenic east coast backroads to Freycinet National Park, passing landmarks such as Buckland Church and Spiky Bridge, with stops at Freycinet Vineyard and the Oyster Farm for local tastings.

In the evening, you can join an optional penguin-watching tour to see these adorable creatures up close.

Day 4

Day at Freycinet. Take the optional Wineglass Bay Nature Cruise and then walk up to the lookout for views down onto Wineglass Bay.

Day 5

Drive the backroads to Bicheno, then up the coast to the Elephant Pass. Cross the pass to St. Marys and follow the highway up the Fingal Valley to Macquarie Plains. Follow the Northern Heritage Highway to Evandale and onto Launceston. Drop off car in Launceston.
