The route takes in the farmland and history of Longford, Woolmers Estate and Brickenden, before heading for the coast at Devonport. From Devonport we will follow the coast out to Stanley.
We will stay on the A1 Bass Highway until it becomes the A2 after Wynyard, but will take turnoffs to travel vis the far more picturesque old Main Road from Ulverston to Penguin.
After Burnie, Wynyard and Table Cape it is all bush and farmland out to Stanley and the Northwest tip of Tassie.Wynyard Hotels
Woolmers Estate and Brickendon | Drive Map Launceston to Stanley
Zoom in on Launceston and look southwest for Longford.Here you will find Woolmers Estatre and Brickendon. Oriinally settled in the mid-1800s by brothers of the same Archer family, today they are fine examples of restored colonial estates of the period and are well worth a visit.,

Hagley, Westbury and Deloraine | Drive Map Launceston to Stanley
The building of the bypass roads has kept the through traffic out of these country towns, much to their benefit. Leave the main highway on the B54and take the old main road,now known as the Meander Valley Road from Hagley into Deloraine.
The town park at the west end of Westbury is worth a look, and the bvanks of the Meander River at Deloraine make for a great picnic by the water. There is a full supermarket in Deloraine for supplies.Deloraine Hotels

For many years the Paper Mill at Burnie was the major industry since its opening in 1938, but the factory closed in 2010, leaving farming, forestry and shipping the main industries.
