Here's a little story...

Norwegian explorer Roald Amundsen led the first expedition to reach the South Pole in 1911. On his return from Antarctica, Amundsen anchored off Hobart where he was to send a telegram with the big news. He booked a room at Hadley’s Orient Hotel, and today visitors can stay in the very same room, known as the Amunden Suite!

Once upon a time, the Quality Hotel Colonial Launceston was a Victorian school. Remnants of time gone by and original fixtures are still present for guests to soak in history. One can just imagine games of cricket being played on the then school grounds, or students gathering in the Big School Room for an assembly, which is now home to the brasserie!

Here's a little story...

Tourism in the Cradle Mountain region began as early as the 1890s, well before modern-day luxury accommodations were present. One of the first places to stay for visitors on Lake St. Clair was a house and boat shed build by Governor Hamilton.

Here's a little story...

Situated in the west coast region, Frenchmans Cap is a mountain in the Franklin-Gordon Wild Rivers National Park. Named by convicts in the 1820s, Frenchmans Cap became an emblem for grand adventure, possible escape, and danger. Modern day travellers are lucky enough to have nearby towns such as Tarraleah and Derwent Bridge where they may comfortably rest their heads before venturing out on this brave climb.
