Stanley, and the Nortwest tip of Tasmania, is a fascinating place. The vistas out over Bass Strait show the Tasmanian coastline at its best, and the light is phenomenal.

This is a wonderful location for the keen photographer – great colour, interesting subjects and plenty of contrast in a compact area – coastline, geologic features, seascapes, rainforest, waterfalls, historic buildings and ruins.
The Nut at Stanley is the focal point for the region and Stanley itself is a great place to stay if you want to soak up the history of the area.
Most of Stanley is built up around the port area, backing onto The Nut, so much of the accommodation does not have views of this feature.
Staying in the Village of Stanley itself sacrifices the wider view for proximity and the chance to stay in one of the historic whalers cottages that have been converted into accommodations of varying standards.
All in all, if you want to stay in Stanley, it is always wise to book in advance. Check through the options for Stanley hotels and accommodation carefully to be sure you select what suits your travel style.
