Cradle Mountain is one of Tasmania’s icons, and is situated at the northern end of the Cradle Mountain – Lake St Clair National Park.
While some hotels offer views of Cradle Mountain, you need to be aware that hotels are not built at the base of Cradle Mountain, rather are at the gates of the park, some 6 kilometres (4 miles) from Cradle Mountain itself.
There is a group of well appointed hotels situated at the gates to the Cradle Mountain, Lake St Clair National Park, and these provide a great base from which to explore the area.
Cradle Valley is about 20 Kms (12 miles) towards Devonport from Cradle Mountain. For a combination of a rural accommodation and proximity to Cradle Mountain, Mole Creek is an interesting option about 45 minutes drive from the National Park.

Set in its own valley about 30 minutes drive from Cradle Mountain, this is one of my favourite accommodations among the Cradle Mountain Hotels. The walks on the property and surrounds are amazing. the food is good, the service excellent. Lemonthyme Lodge provides a retreat away from the crowds. The road into the Lodge is so narrow that coach groups cannot get there.

Cradle Mountain Chateau.
More a hotel style accommodation, the Cradle Mountain Chateau is of a high quality, but does not offer individual cabin accommodation. The art galleries and exhibitions of Cradle Mountain history are well worth visiting.

Cradle Mountain Wilderness Village.
If you wish to stay in individual cabins at a more budget level, I suggest you look at the Cradle Mountain Wilderness Village, situated in a secluded bush setting nearby to Cradle Mountain National Park.

Mole Creek Accommodation near Cradle Mountain.
Mole Creek is a wonderful example of a Tasmanian farming valley. It is about 40 minutes drive from Cradle Mountain. Accommodation here can be a wonderful base to explore the whole North and Northwest of Tasmania. Compare prices and features.
