There is quite a range at Waterfront Lodge Motel, and a King Spa Room has a larger bed, a jetted tub and a bar fridge. Then there’s the Family View, with two bedrooms, a toaster, a dining setting and a view of the lake, and others with additional heating, mountain views or an ironing board that can be included on request. Feel free to bring your children, although pets will need to stay behind.

Waterfront Lodge Motel includes a swimming pool, a garden and quite an impressive view from the lobby area, where there is also a television. Parking is free, as you can expect from a motel, and guests have access to a library, free newspapers, barbecue equipment, assistance with bookings for tours and other ticketed services, luggage storage and, for a surcharge, you can get breakfast in the morning. Staff speak both English and Chinese, and can advise on the most suitable choice of room if you are a wheelchair user or have other mobility issues.

A seven-minute drive can take you to Hobart’s CBD (Central Business District), and the motel is not far from a number of walking and cycling routes if you prefer to explore the Greater Hobart district rather than the city itself. However, head into town and there are two of its most famous attractions awaiting you: Salamanca Market and MONA – the Museum of Old and New Art. Other places well worth taking a look at include the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens and the Subantarctic Plant House, both about four minutes away by car. Hobart International Airport (HBA) is just under twenty minutes from the motel by car or taxi.
