The Duck House is the name given to the group of three cottages, one actually called The Duck House, one is Amelia’s and the other is Mrs Philpots. Common features to all include a large, metal-framed bed with top-quality bedding, a full kitchen, laundry equipment, a bathroom and a communal garden. The five-star properties are all pet-friendly as well!

Taking a look at Amelia’s in more detail, you will find that it can sleep six, in three bedrooms, and has such extras as a television and DVD player, individually controlled central heating, an iron and ironing board, a hair dryer, windows you can open, high-speed broadband internet access and private verandas from which you can watch the river flowing past. The owners of The Duck House properties have their fruit, vegetable and herb gardens here, and guests are welcome to pick anything they fancy from it. Among the breakfast provisions are free-range bacon, fresh eggs, plunger coffee and Tasmanian jams.

Parking at the cottages is free for guests, and when it comes to exploring Burnie you will find you can do pretty much everything on foot. The boardwalk area at the coast is a few minutes away, as are Maker’s Workshop Information Centre and Burnie Arts and Function Centre. You can reach Little Penguin Observation Centre in about twenty minutes, while if you are driving it’s just four minutes to Burnie Regional Art Gallery.

Located in the heart of Burnie, this cottage is within a 5-minute walk of Burnie Waterfront Boardwalk, Burnie Arts & Function Centre, and West Beach. Burnie Park and Maker’s Workshop Information Centre are also within 10 minutes.
