Sandpiper Ocean Cottages
These one, two and three-bedroom cottages sleep between two and eight, are fully self-contained with cooking and laundry facilities and are perfect for those wanting a spot of seclusion, long walks along the beach or a good game of golf at the nearby club.
The beds – kings, queens and singles depending on the cottage – have all the necessary linens and bedding while there is a shower in your own bathroom, with a bath in some cases. An oven, a fridge, a toaster, a microwave and a supply of tea and coffee can be found among the contents of the well-equipped kitchen, and laundry equipment is provided.
Sandpiper Ocean Cottages are pet-friendly, non-smoking, have free off-street parking and include items such as cots and high chairs for anyone bringing particularly younger guests. Indoors there is a television, DVD player, access to cable channels and a CD player to keep you entertained, a wood heater, a mini-bar and a breakfast hamper so you have something tasty to look forward to in the morning. A selection of children’s games are also among the property’s inventory, while outdoors they can enjoy a play area.
You will find some variations among the cottage contents, with some featuring a ceiling fan, an iron and ironing board, an outdoor smoking area, wheelchair access, a bigger television than most and one or two extra items the chef in your group might find useful. There is one more property, The Rocks, an exception to the pet-friendly policy and sporting three bedrooms. It’s a mere hundred metres from the natural wonder of Bicheno Blowhole.
Back at the Cottages, each one has a gated deck area, barbecue equipment, a spacious garden with outdoor furniture, and a mixture of the most wonderful views, either of the coastal gardens and dunes or the water. A short stroll takes you to a golf course, the beach and Douglas Apsley National Park. It is possible to make use of some water-sports gear your hosts have provided, and the area is great for fishing. Pop across to the tour desk for more places of interest, or to borrow a book or DVD from the library. Sandpiper Ocean Cottages are keen to point out that they are gay-friendly, by the way. As for those of you who need internet access wherever they go, be not afraid! A wireless hot-spot is part of the compound of cottages.
Nestled on the beach, this Douglas River cottage is within a 10-minute walk of Denison Beach and Denison Rivulet Conservation Area. Redbill Beach and Waubs Beach are also within 2 mi (3 km).
Guests at this beach cottage will appreciate convenient onsite amenities such as barbecue grills and a picnic area.
