Dining, seating and food preparation are in separate parts of a large open-plan room, and the kitchenette comes with an electric oven, stovetop, fridge, microwave oven, toaster, sandwich toaster, kettle and coffee plunger. There is also a good supply of ground coffee and tea, crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils. The dining table seats six and has lovely views of the mountains, sea and garden.

As well a reverse-cycle air conditioning and heating, mod cons include a flat-screen television and a DVD player, but if you are bringing children (feel free to bring pets as well), there is an indoor children’s play area complete with an assortment of toys. Naturally, playing outside is so much better when the weather calls for it, so you can have the peace of mind of a fully fenced garden.

Parking at Omaroo Cottage Alonnah Bruny Island is free, and concierge services are available, as well as luggage storage. The owners can even provide tour and ticket-booking assistance, although bear in mind there is no actual front desk, considering it is a holiday cottage rather than a hotel as such. Speaking of things to do, Bruny Island has a lot to offer. Not only is the cottage near the beach, but it is also only about sixteen kilometres from South Bruny National Park. If you fancy taking the boat to other parts of the region, Kettering Ferry Terminal and Bruny Island Ferry Terminal are less than forty kilometres away. A little over fifty kilometres takes you to Grandvewe Cheeses and Oyster Cove Marina. Bruny Island itself is a great place for cafes, restaurants, bush-walking tours, surfing, fishing, arts and museums, so there is something for everyone.
