There is a dining table with seating for ten, in part of the open-plan living area. Free self parking and free wireless internet, a television with a DVD player and pay movies, toys for children and a selection of board games, an iron and ironing board, a well stocked mini-bar, an iPod dock and a library also come with the property, as well as a washing machine and dryer. The bathroom has a shower and a bath, towels, toiletries and a hair dryer. There is a plunge pool, barbecue equipment, a furnished balcony and even a tennis court.

If that were not enough, you have the services of a concierge, including ticket and tour-booking assistance, luggage storage, plus you can arrange for an in-room massage. The beach is at your feet, and if you’re lucky you might spot a dolphin or whale passing by.

For the ocean, the place to head to is Scammander Beach, while Henderson Lagoon offers more tranquil waters. The town of Falmouth is a short journey to the north, with the beautiful Bay of Fires a little further. As well as there being a tennis court on site at Ocean Retreat, it is also possible to take a boat tour, go sailing and of course head off on one of the area’s hiking or cycling routes. If golf is your thing, Scamander River Golf Club is just under a quarter of an hour away by car.
