Launceston Holiday Park Legana
Cabins, powered sites for camper vans and pitches for tents mean a wide range of budgets are catered for at this 3-star holiday park in a quiet, leafy setting, with communal facilities such as showers, a kitchen and a games room, a short distance to the north of Launceston and about half an hour’s drive from Launceston Airport.
When it comes to the cabins, one for five people has a pair of double beds and a single bunk, a kitchenette with a mini-oven with a pair of hobs, a refrigerator, a microwave and various pieces of cutlery, dishware and crockery, and a bathroom with a shower. A small dining table, a sofa and a television are included in the living space, and you have a fan to keep you cool and electric heating for warmth. There’s even an alarm clock thrown in.
Of course, you could go a bit up-market at Launceston Holiday Park, Legana and book one of the one or two-bedroom Spa Cabins, which as well as having a large spa bath also includes a spacious, covered outdoor area which you can reach through a sliding door from the living room. This cabin additionally boasts a DVD player. A Deluxe has a queen-size bed and is nestled further away from the other cabins, so ideal if you are looking for something a little secluded.
Then again, you could bring a tent to one of the un-powered sites or, for either a tent or camper van, one of the powered parkland pitches. All guests at Launceston Holiday Park, Legana have access to the communal amenities, which include a toilet and shower block, a coin-operated laundry, and a camp kitchen with items such as a refrigerator, a microwave oven, a kettle and a toaster.
Also at the disposal of guests during their stay is a free gas-fired barbecue and a number of hotplates, a games room, a tourist-information point with wired internet access, a sullage point for recreational vehicles, and a kiosk. For anything the park doesn’t provide, a short walk takes you to a branch of Woolworths, a post office, various takeaways and cafes, a bakery, an off-licence, a sports bar, a pharmacy, a service station (which sells LPG) and even a beauty salon.
In addition to Launceston’s famous Cataract Gorge, some of the nearby places that are well worth visiting are Grindelwald Swiss Village, the National Automobile Museum of Tasmania, Tamar wetlands and, for an impressive boat trip, Tamar River Cruises. Wine lovers will like how close the park is to a number of vineyards, including Velo, which is just three doors away.
Located in Legana, this campground is 0.3 mi (0.5 km) from Velo Winery and 1.7 mi (2.7 km) from Tamar Island Wetlands Centre. Bradys Lookout State Reserve and Native Point Nature Reserve are also within 6 mi (10 km).
Laundry facilities, an arcade/game room, and tour/ticket assistance are available at this campground. Free WiFi in public areas and free self parking are also provided. Other amenities include a garden and barbecue grills.
